The Best Peony
The Best Peony…
Hello and welcome to today’s post.
I’ve been playing in the garden this week and have some
pretties for you to enjoy.
Today’s card uses the Peony Garden Suite, and focuses on the off the page flower.
Basic Gray card stock cut at ½ an A4 card sheet, this is the
card base. On a scrap of Basic Gray, I stamped the sentiment using Flirty
Flamingo stamp pad and then clear embossed this and cut the sentiment out. Both
the die and stamp are from the Tasteful Touches Bundle
Gray Granite card stock cut at 10cm x 14.4cm.
DSP cut at 9.6cm x 14cm. and 1 piece cut at 1.5cm x 14.4cm
for the insert.
Whisper White card stock cut at 10cm x 14.4cm for the insert
You will need scraps of Mossy Meadow and Old Olive card
stock to die cut the leaves. And a tiny piece of yellow card stock to die cut
the stamen
You will also need some Petal Pink card stock to die cut the
flower.
Gray Granite ribbon
Elegant Faceted Gems
And basic supplies, Glue, Dimensionals, Wink of Stella etc.
I started by layering the DSP and the Gray Granite, I added
the Gray Granite ribbon along the left side and the bottom of the card as shown,
I attached the ribbon using tear and tape. I popped this on dimensionals and
attached it to the front of the card base.
Using the 4 die pieces that make up the flower, die cut the
Petal Pink. I then used a sponge dauber
to lightly sponge some Flirty Flamingo ink around the edges of each of the
flower pieces, I also carefully sponged where the flower is split in the centre
of each piece. For the stamen I lightly
dabbed a little pink, just to lighten the yellow. The flower slots in together from smallest to
largest, making sure to match the bottom edge of each layer. I used liquid glue to adhere each layer, and
popped the stamen in to the centre of the flower. Once the glue has dried use a
bone folder to roll the edged of the flower to give a little dimension and
shape to the petals. I used the Wink of Stella along all the sponged areas of
the flower to give it a little pop. I
attached the die cut leaves and sponged a little Mossy Meadow on the Old Olive
layer for a little dimension to the leaves.
I attached these directly on the card, then added the flower using the
Dimensionals. I also popped the
sentiment on Dimensionals, and added a few of the Faceted Gems to the front of
the card. For the insert I kept it
simple I used the small piece of the DSP and attached this to the Whisper
White. I didn’t stamp a sentiment in the
insert as I often want a little more room to write a special message, but you
could add a sentiment if you wish Don’t forget the envelope. I simply stamped the small Peony from the
stamp set onto both the front and the back in Basic Gray.
